Actually this thousand year plan has some potential. It is not originally Jewish, it is international: time is divided into rather long units, in the end comes a catastrophe but some survive. The reason for the catastrophe is that the population grows, and waste products grow, and resources are depleted, in an exponential process. In some time, like a thousand years, or two thousand years, resources become scare and there follows a crisis. Not all die, some find a new way of life. This is the best scientific achievement of ancient cultures. It is in many cultures, about the same way. It is still valid today: we are right now ending into a catastrophe.
